In my experience, working in customer service can be a very rewarding career. Very successful companies know that customer service is the pulse of the company. We hear first hand what our customers think about our company. We have the power to change customers perception for good or bad. You know how a company feels about its employee by the tone of the voice that answers the phone.
VSP prides itself on hiring high performing employees. It’s the reason that I choose to apply and work here. I believe that I work for one of the best companies in the world and I believe that our Customer Service is bar none, the best! This was proven on Friday when our VP of customer service, Laura Costa, announced that SQM (Service Quality Measurement) named us the 2009 Call Center of the Year and rated highest in Employee Satisfaction for the second year in a row.
If you aren’t familiar with SQM, they are an outside research firm that helps us capture the voice of our customers. As Laura stated in her email “These awards are especially remarkable in that all the SQM customer surveys were conducted during really tough economic times, October 2008 – September 2009.” This year we had tough competition, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Capital One and OfficeMax, just to name a few.
It is with great pride, that I congratulate everyone in customer service for this remarkable achievement. Everyone, from Laura to the management team, to my coworkers taking calls with me everyday. This is a team effort and we have shown again why we are simply the best.














I actually hate customer service in the sense of working in the field as a representative. I wish a time would come when there was no reason for the position to be around. The idea that someone can be as mean and nasty to you as you want and you have to bite the bullet and thank them for their horrible attitude is way too requiring of buddhist and christlike undying compassion for us mere mortals.
I will say vsp is THE BEST in customer service I have ever experienced ever calling.

I have to agree with that. Customer Service is one of the most important aspects of a company. Good customer service will result in the customer’s good perception of the company.
