It is Christmastime, so much of the conversation in my home lately has revolved around Santa Claus. My son is 5 so he is fascinated by Santa, and that’s primarily because Santa’s going to bring him presents-”Lots and lots of toys” to be exact.
A few days ago I was asked why Santa wears his funny hat. My response was that Santa needs his funny hat because it gets very cold at the North Pole. I pulled out one of our books so we could look at a picture and while we were talking about the hat, I noticed Santa’s glasses and started thinking about how important those glasses are.
First of all, I have seen pictures of Santa without glasses but let’s face it, Santa just isn’t the same without his eyewear. In this particular book, Santa was wearing what looked like reading glasses and using them to read a long wish list.
Let’s think about the repercussions if Santa didn’t get his eye exams and wear glasses: How could Santa read Christmas lists without his glasses? How could he accurately drive his sleigh and land on rooftops? How could he read the names on the presents? Christmas would be ruined and kids’ hearts everywhere would break if Santa couldn’t see!
You may not be Santa, but eye health is important no matter who you are and what time of year it is. So if you haven’t had your eye exam this year, make the time to go see your eye doctor. If Santa, the busiest man on Earth, can make time to get his eyes examined, you can too! Find a VSP doctor near you.

Great post, an annual eye exam is always important. Even if your vision still seems to be ok, the exam can also detect number of diseases. Think a free exam would put me on the nice list? lol
I’m glad you enjoyed the post! And yes, free exams would definitely put you at the top of the nice list…especially if Santa was your patient!
Vern, the ELF makes the whole thing.

Wow – those little guys (and gals) can do it all.
You think the elves make the frames? Who makes the lenses?
