David in Flexon

Not every guy looking for new shades is as lucky as our David C! He was looking for a fashion assist on his decision so we asked you to vote on which pair of shades was the best choice. Remember – David’s got an oval face, pale skin with a rosy cast, a professional lifestyle that includes outdoorsy stuff, and a fairly bold style.

The style masses have spoken. And it’s time for frame choices 2 & 3 to make their concession speeches.  You decided David looks best in frame 1. Fashion democracy at its finest!

Frame 1, the Flexon Sun Force (in Coffee),  not only compliments David, but it has this cool feature. You can twist the metal frame around your finger and it will pop right back to its original shape. Shades that come with a party trick! What’s not to love?

P.S. If you don’t have a group of people to help vote on the best frames for you, get some expert fashion advice on eyeconic.com.

Trend Alert: Orange Crush

Eyeconic.com

I don’t know about you, but I get seriously bummed when I have to put away all the colorful stuff I wear all summer just because I don’t live in a sun shiny place like Maui. Yeah, black is eternally epic. Gray is awesome. But can’t I hang on to my “crush” on color all year round?

Turns out – I can! At least this season. I did some serious research—getting stuck in the longest line in the supermarket can come in handy—and there it was. In magazine after magazine. Bags, scarves and boots in some really strong colors, like orange! Oh yes, I’ve got a crush. An orange crush. Now, no one wants to look like a pumpkin or gigantic can of soda, so key word…moderation. But warming up all the gray, brown and black outfits was splashes of orange, yellow and magenta.

Tyreke sports orange

So, I decided the easiest way to keep my crush alive all winter was through a sunglass splash. And eyeconic.com has some hot orange sunglasses that look like me (or NBA star Tyreke Evans…yeah, I think he copied me). Ok, so, I used a webcam on my computer to try a pair of Nikes on live. It was fabulous, and since my style team was out of town I could confirm that my orange crush was real…Color rules.

Trends in eyewear this fall

Alexis, Senior PR Manager for bebe

Guest Blogger: Alexis, Senior PR Manager for bebe, shares her favorite Fall Fashion Trends. Follow her at @bebe_PRgirl for an inside look at bebe from the clothes to the events to the celebs and more.

Splitting my time between LA and NY I always have a pair of sunnies with me – sometimes after a long plane ride they are my go-to accessory! As a PR girl in the fashion business, one of the perks is that I get to attend a lot of fashion shows. I’m so excited to share with you some fall fashion trends I’ve noticed on and off the runway and how they have transitioned to eyewear.

Color: Bright colors are going strong for Fall and here's our take on a classic wayfarer shape, love the swirls of colors.

Retro-glam: Cat-eyes have graced the faces of nearly all celebrities and is a clear staple for this season. Funk up your everyday look by trying on a pair of cat-eyes.

I’d love to hear what your favorite fall trends are in the comment section below.

And just a reminder that sunglasses are more than just a hot accessory – although summer has passed, it’s important to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays all year long! Browse more of the latest styles and find a doctor near you that carry brands like bebe.

Season 2 of VSP EyeFiles Continues…Don’t Forget Your Sunglasses!

Even with new regulations on the labeling of sunscreen products to help consumers better protect their skin, many Americans are still unaware of the sun’s damaging effects on their eyes. UVA and UVB rays can cause cataracts and macular degeneration, and are believed to cause melanomas (cancerous growths both inside and around the eyes), all of which can cause blindness.  Also, UV damage is cumulative over time, so it’s never too late or too early to start protecting your eyes from the sun, especially for young children. In fact, a survey by VSP® Vision Care found  that less than 30 percent of children wear sunglasses outside.

Don’t miss VSP EyeFiles Episode 2, which you can watch below and on VSP’s Facebook page. See the risks of not wearing sunglasses and enter our EyeFiles contest for a chance to win designer sunglasses and $200 cash!

The monocle is back. Really?

Dashing fashion statement? Half a pair of glasses? Or both?

Dashing fashion statement? Half a pair of glasses? Or both?

Needless to say, I didn’t see this trend coming.

According to an article on Telegraph.co.uk, monocles are making a come-back. Our intrepid blogger, Vernon D., documented the birth of the monocle in the 18th century, but I never anticipated that 300 years later this one-lensed eyepiece would be a hit on the high streets of London yet again.

Read the article, and tell me… are you investing in a monocle for 2010?
