Troops Protect and Serve In Nike Sunglasses!

I just love stories like this! Recently, VSP Global CEO Rob Lynch saw a photo on the desk of one of our employees, Marsha C.  Her son Myles is currently serving in the U.S. Army National Guard, stationed in Baghdad, Iraq. Rob said, “We need to send him some sunglasses … Actually, find out how many are in his platoon and send them all sunglasses.” A few weeks later, Marsha C. is proudly displaying the photo above!

In observance of Healthy Vision Month, VSP Vision Care wants to remind you to make eye health a priority by scheduling an eye exam with your VSP eye doctor. Eye exams not only check vision, they can also detect signs of related health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, just to name a few.
 
The National Eye Institute (NEI) proclaimed May as Healthy Vision Month in 2003 to elevate vision as a health priority for the nation. This year’s theme is “Your Eyes Are The Windows To Your Health.” There are millions of people living in the U.S. with undetected vision problems, eye diseases and related health conditions that can be detected and/or resolved with a visit to an eye doctor. We hope you join us in preserving the sense of sight and maintaining high quality eye health for all Americans.  
 
As many of you know, VSP Global is part of the Think About Your Eyes Coalition, with Essilor and Luxottica, and are helping remind Americans about the important of receiving an annual eye exam. Today marks the beginning of a two-year public awareness campaign from the Think About Your Eyes Coalition, designed to help us all remember the importance of an annual eye exam. The Coalition, formed in March by Essilor, Luxottica and VSP Global, launched the first of its television and radio advertisements throughout the country to help raise awareness of how eye exams not only protect your sight, but also deliver preventative health benefits like early detection of chronic diseases such as diabetes.

The advertisements (see the TV ad below) focus on a variety of eye health issues, and urge viewers to visit www.thinkaboutyoureyes.com for more information on healthy vision, as well as a tool to locate a local eyecare professional and schedule their annual eye exam.

Diane von Furstenberg made a personal appearance at the Marchon booth during Vision Expo East to launch her new eyewear collection.

“Putting on a pair of glasses can change the way you look and feel,” said Diane von Furstenberg. “They are the lens through which you see the world.”

For its debut collection, the heritage and identity of the DVF brand was interpreted in different styles and materials resulting in a range of eyewear that is both classic and moderDVF lip logon. Iconic details like the DVF lips, the love knot, the power stone, and the wrap dress were beautifully translated, with bright colors and eclectic patterns playing an important role throughout the collection.
